Why is it that even though the Soviets and the U.S 's relation ship was declining they tried to resolve it with a nuclear arms race? I can see them getting nervous, but do they really need to threaten people to back them down?

Think of it as a fight with one person having a stick and the other a stone. When person B gets his stone, person A wants two stones. Then person B gets two stones and person A gets three. From there you have the arms race that you describe. Remember both societies thought their way of life was better and worth saving. Further, each side thought the other was trying to eliminate the others way of life. It wasn't until the mid-1970s that they both thought to step on the break a bit and talk.

I'm a little confused and can't find any information in our notes about the Truman Doctrine. Wasn't it to give military support to Greece/Turkey to keep communism away? Also, should we know SPECIFIC details about Yalta/Potsdam, or just similar ideas they agreed upon?

You should have a page of notes that deals with the Truman Doctrine that we talked about on Wednesday. Yes, it was a program to give economic and military support to Greece and Turkey to hold off communism. Finally, focus on the mainthemese of Yalta and Potsdam -the future of German Government, German reparations, Poland's (and the other liberated countries of EasternEurope)government, as well as changing borders (most notably Poland). Read over your documents to find the specifics. If you know what to look for it should jump off the page.
